‘Bapu’, ‘Father of the Nation’, ‘Mahatma’.  Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi .  Gandhiji was born in Porbandar.  His father Karamchand Gandhi was the Diwan of Porbandar State.  The mother's name was Putlibai.  Studied in Porbandar, Rajkot and England.  He received his law degree from England.  He led for the rights of Hindus in South Africa and for independence in India.  His autobiography, Truth Experiments, has been translated into many languages.  His notable books are ‘History of Satyagraha in South Africa’, ‘The Key to Health’, ‘Anasakti Yoga’, ‘Hind Swaraj’, ‘Sarvodaya’, ‘Mangalprabhat’.  He has written thousands of letters.  His writings are stored in the book series 'Gandhiji's Akshardeh'.  Gandhiji's fearlessness on this occasion,

taken from Gandhiji's autobiography, 'Experiments of Truth', is a death knell for the righteousness of atonement.  After this theft, Gandhiji regrets.  He writes a letter to his father and confesses to it.  Instead of punishing the angry father, he sheds tears.  From it, Gandhiji learns the lesson of truthfulness and non-violence for the first time in his life, realizing what a great result Prayashvin brings.

Gandhiji has become a Mahatma by not repeating the mistake he once made.
