Prakaran-1 Sanj Same Shamliyo

Narasimha Mehta
(time: about 15th century)

Narasimha Mehta was born in Talaja near Bhavnagar at 1 pm.  He spent his childhood in Junagadh.  He has got the title of 'Adikavi' in Gujarati language.  His poems are found in the verses of 'Hindola Na Pad', 'Vasant Na Pad', 'Krishnalila', 'Bhaktibodh' etc.  Prabhas of Narasimha in Mulana verse are still sung in folklore.  Har, Hundi, Mosalu, Vivah and Shraddha are the terms of his autobiography.  The height of spirituality is seen in the positions of Narasimha Mehta.

‘Saanj Same Shamliyo’ is a melodious song of Krishna.  The poem begins with a description of Shamliyo (Krishna) coming from Vrindavan at a time when the herd of cows is returning to the village in the evening.  The crown, earrings, pitambar and flower headscarf are fragrant like stingy sandalwood.  Narasimha Mehta uses various metaphors to describe the beauty of Krishna's form.  As the moon adorns the stars, so the hero adorns the gold, the girdhar adorns the cowherds.  In the last two lines, the price of how devotee Narasimha Mehta turns on the beautiful-sweet Krishna is erotically expressed.  It is not possible to live without such a beloved, auspicious Kari, Rasik Krishna.  This poem ends with a price to pay attention to.  Shamliyo wahalo in the evening,

Vrindav thi rakhave;  Gaudhan in front, Sajan in the back, mocks the mind.  - Evening |  Peacock Crown Shir Beautiful Dhir Raag Kan Phadal Lakde Ke
